Join WGBH's TV and Radio General Manager, Marita Rivero, in Salvador da Bahia, where you'll begin your stay with three nights in the fourstar Monte Pascoal hotel, directly on the beach.
In Bahia, take a city tour and explore the Pelhourinho historic district; a folklore show of traditional dances; an indepth presentation by Cortejo Afro, one of the leading Carnival groups; and see a performance and workshop with Grupo Olodum, a powerhouse samba percussion troupe.
Then enjoy four nights in Rio de Janeiro at the threestar
Martinique Hotel, a halfblock from the Copacabana Beach. Take a cable car tour of the Sugar Loaf Mountain, enjoy Brazilian barbeque and Bossa Nova, samba and other forms of traditional Brazilian music and jazz; explore Old Rio and visit the famous Statue of Christ on Corcovado Mountain. Go to art
